There’s nothing like 25 inches of snow to make you feel like getting out of the office! The Proven Systems team took off early on Friday for a little team building time and some much needed recreation!
Chipper’s Lanes played host for our adventure. The whole gang was there — even Nick came up from Denver and Beth drove down from Wellington. We split into two teams: Marc, Jordan, Dawn, and Kristy made up the Great Balls of Fire, while Nick, Kimberly, Beth, and Amanda rounded out the Ball-Busters. Pretty evenly matched, the Ball-Busters took the first two games before getting tired and consequently “whooped” by the Great Balls of Fire in the final, and most important, winner-takes-all game.
To protect the innocent and to maintain a sense of friendly cooperation (after all, this was a team-building activity) we won’t go over individual scores. However, we did learn a few lessons during our outing:
- Chipper’s has really good happy hour prices and a nice selection of local beers.
- Just because someone “loves” bowling doesn’t mean she’s good at it. (We’re looking at you, Kristy!)
- Agreeing on a team name is easier said than done.
- No drinks by the lanes and NO bowling shoes outside. There are some things you just have to learn the hard way!
Even though nobody knows how to keep score anymore, bowling remains a favorite American pastime. There’s an undeniable, indescribable charm to the smell of nachos, beer, and lane oil mixed with the sounds of people cheering and pins smacking against each other. In Fort Collins, you get the added bonus of live local music being played on a stage that’s built over the lanes. (Thank you to Mom’s Migraine and Three Shots for the soundtrack to our little outing!)
So the next time you see 25 inches of snow, you can find the Proven Systems team celebrating the weather at Chipper’s Lanes. It’s too bad we only got 6 inches with the last system!
