Gone Fishing, Not Phishing!

Horsetooth ReservoirPhishing is a big, scary item in the news lately. Big name companies, like the Associated Press, have fallen prey to groups trying to gain access to their internal networks. These phishing attempts become more sophisticated all the time, masquerading as trustworthy companies or a co-worker to get you to give up private information.

As CEO and founder of a B2B marketing business, the increasing intensity of phishing attempts concerns Proven Systems’ Marc Dube. Knowing that these cybercriminals are targeting small businesses because they see them as more vulnerable than the huge enterprises is concerning. Marc takes phishing threats seriously, like any smart business owner would.

But all this talk lately about “phishing” has been intolerable: Whenever Marc hears “phishing,” he thinks “fishing.” His mind immediately drifts to relaxing on his boat, where he can plop a couple of rods in the holders,  pop a cold one, sit back, and and troll, troll, troll!

Each year, Marc can’t wait to get his 1976 Bi-Centennial Lund Shell Star Limited with  135 Horse Johnson in the water to enjoy some much deserved quiet time. After a busy week in the Proven Systems’ offices and in his family-packed Wellington home, a little r&r is just what the doctor ordered!

Late spring snow storms and cold weather have delayed the start of this year’s fishing season. But 22 inches of snow one week, followed by another 12 the next week, really boosted the water levels! The first weekend in May couldn’t have been more perfect for a day of fishing. Marc rounded up his friend, Pat, and Jordan, our fearless marketing specialist. They gathered together all of the supplies: rods, reels, lures, and beer. A few hours and 18 fish later, the guys made it back from Horsetooth Reservoir, tan, happy, and relaxed.

It’s amazing how a gorgeous day outside can revitalize you and make you ready to tackle the work challenges come Monday morning. And here at Proven Systems we’re always ready — whether we’re talking about phishing or fishing, we mean serious business!
