Winter has arrived in full force here in Colorado, already delivering below-0 temperatures and inches of powdery snow. Most people know Colorado for its winter sports, such as skiing and snowboarding, but if those don’t tempt you, Colorado has plenty of other fun, outdoor offerings for winter:
Snowshoeing
What began as a method of transportation through deep snow has turned into a fun winter activity. You can snowshoe with friends and family or alone, and it’s a great activity for any age or skill level. As a bonus over taking a ski trip, you don’t need a lift ticket or gear — besides snowshoes, of course — so it’s a cost-effective activity! For beautiful views of snow-peaked mountains, try one of these Fort Collins snowshoeing locations.
Ice Skating
You don’t have to be Wayne Gretzky on the ice to enjoy a skating outing! From the experienced skater to the skater who can barely keep their feet, getting out on a rink or a frozen lake or pond is a fun way to spend a cold day. Try taking a class or two at EPIC here in Fort Collins, and follow it by an evening at the Winter Wishes Ice Show!
Sleigh Rides
Would you prefer to enjoy the winter sights from the warmth of a picturesque horse-drawn carriage? Take a ride down the streets of historic Old Town, and enjoy the beautiful downtown holiday lights.
Snow sledding and tubing
For those who desire the thrill of skiing and snowboarding but don’t have the experience (or just want something a little lower-key), snow tubing is definitely the way to go. Beaver Meadows near Red Feather Lakes has a great snow tubing hill — go rent some tubes and satisfy your need for speed!
And of course, while you’re in beautiful Northern Colorado, don’t forget to stop by Proven Systems to warm up with a hot cup of our Proven Systems Success Blend coffee! Our roaster takes shade-grown, organic coffee beans from Peru, Indonesia, and Ethiopia and roasts them perfectly, until delicious hints of chocolate and blueberry start to come through. We take coffee almost as seriously as we take our email marketing!
