You can see that people are coming to your website. Your reports tell you that readers open your newsletter. So why aren’t you generating more sales leads?
The problem may be your offer. You are offering your readers something, right?
If not, then creating an offer is the first step. If you already have an offer, then you may just need to perfect it. Here’s how it works. Your company offers something of value that’s free for readers. The reader will fill out the (very brief!) form. You deliver on what you promised. You have a new lead. It’s that simple.
This process really does work, but the success depends on the caliber of your offer. Some are better than others.
What makes an offer compelling? How do you make readers feel like they absolutely must take you up on your offer? A strong offer is …
- Specific — Address a particular pain point for the reader. “Hiring new personnel takes up too much of your time; your other projects are suffering.”
- Valuable — The offer has to provide value for the reader without giving too much away. “We will analyze the marketing strategies of five of your competitors.”
- Unique — Set your company apart from everybody else. Get a little creative here: “We’ll send you a bobblehead after our 30-minute consultation.”
If you want to turn readers into sales leads, give them something they want or need bad enough to hand over their names, phone numbers, and email addresses. It can be as simple as a cutting-edge, profound white paper to a personalized 10-step plan for social media success. The key is to make it specific to their needs, high value, and memorable.
